1. Establishment and development process:
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering today was formerly the Processing Department of the Vietnam-Soviet Agricultural Mechanics School. In 1997, when three schools were merged: Central Agricultural Mechanics High School, Agricultural Construction Workers School, Viet-Xo Ban Agricultural Mechanic School named after Metal Technology Board; In 2001 the University merged 03 professional departments including: Metal Technology Department, Repair Department, Use Department to become Mechanical Engineering Department, Metal Technology Department was renamed Metal Technology Department.
In 2005, on the basis of separating the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Board was upgraded and renamed the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The Faculty consists of three subject groups: Welding, Turning - Milling - Planing and Nguoi - Go - Forging, with a total of 19 teachers, professional qualifications: University (02), College (11), Intermediate ( 05), the faculty has the function of training two professions: welding and metal cutting, in addition, the faculty is in charge of teaching subjects and modules through the department.
In 2006, the School was upgraded to Tam Diep Construction Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College, in the general development strategy of the school, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was selected, planned and invested by the school to become a key profession in the area. ASEAN area for welding profession, international focus for chemical engineering profession and the faculty has two departments to this day.
Experiencing the process of construction, development and growth from 2005 up to now, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has always maintained good training quality; Modern and synchronous facilities and equipment; with a current staff of 14 lecturers, of which: Doctor (01), Master: (09), University (04) have a high sense of responsibility, dedication to the profession, always have the will to work. fight up, meet all assigned tasks.
2. Functions and tasks of the faculty:
The functions and duties of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are specified in Article 13 - Regulations on assigning tasks and assigning responsibilities to collectives and individuals of Viet Xo College of Engineering and Construction.
– Professional training in two professions at all levels: Vocational College of Welding – Key to Asean Region and College of Metal Cutting – International Focus and Intermediate and Beginner levels;
- Organize the compilation and adjustment of programs and textbooks to meet the labor requirements of enterprises, society and learners;
- Carrying out experimental activities, scientific research, making models, learning tools, technical improvement initiatives, applying technology to the teaching process;
- Organize professional and professional training activities for the faculty's teaching staff, seminars; Competition for good teachers, attendance, study tour and experience exchange, practical penetration;
– Organize training and exam preparation for excellent students at provincial, ministerial and national levels for welding, mechanical engineering design (CAD), CNC turning, CNC milling;
– Annually coordinate with the Testing and Quality Assurance Department to conduct self-assessment of the quality of two College programs for the welding profession – Asean focus, Metal cutting – International focus;
- Organizing production activities combined with training.
