1. Development history
Viet Xo College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was formerly known as the High School and Vocational Training School for Agricultural Construction and Rural Development., was established under Decision No. 02/NN-TCCB-QD dated January 3, 1997 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the basis of merging and reorganizing 3 schools:
– Central High School of Agricultural Mechanics (established in 1960)
– Agricultural Construction Workers (established in 1968)
– Vietnamese-Soviet Agricultural Mechanic Workers (established in 1979).
The school was upgraded to Tam Diep Construction Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College According to Decision No. 1988/2006/QD-BLDTBXH dated December 29, 2006
The school was renamed to Viet Xo Vocational College of Mechanical and Electrical Construction according to Decision No. 358/QD-BLDTBXH dated 23/3/2012. In 2017, the name was changed to Viet Xo College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering according to Decision No. 919/QD-BLDTBXH dated June 20, 2017
The school's staff of teachers, officials and employees currently has 215 people. 163 organic team, of which: 01 doctor, 84 master, 74 people with university degrees, 04 colleges.
The annual training scale is from 3,000 to 3,500 students. Places of enrollment and supply of human resources are concentrated mainly in the southern part of the Red River Delta, north of the former Four Zones and the southwestern provinces. The development history of the University continues the good tradition of the previous member schools.

3. Function – Mission
The functions and tasks of the school are specified in Decision No. 4323/QD-BNN-TCCB dated October 26, 2017 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
3.1. Function
Viet Xo College of Engineering and Construction is a public vocational education and training unit under the national education system under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The school has the function of training human resources at college level, intermediate level, elementary level in the fields of electromechanical engineering, construction, agriculture, rural development and according to the needs of society. ; regular training and international cooperation in vocational education; research, application, transfer of science and technology into production; consulting in professional fields under the tasks of the University in accordance with the law.
3.2. Mission
The school performs the tasks and powers as prescribed in Article 23 of the Law on Vocational Education; Article 8 of Circular No. 46/2016/TT-BLDTBXH dated December 28, 2016 of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs with the following specific tasks:
1) Develop strategies and plans to develop the University and organize the implementation after it has been approved.
2) Organize training at college, intermediate and elementary levels according to the granted certificate of registration of vocational education activities and the provisions of law.
3) Organize regular training in accordance with the law.
4) Organize and compile training programs and textbooks in accordance with law.
5) Enrollment and management of learners; ensure the legitimate rights and interests of learners; ensure a pedagogical environment for vocational education activities; cooperate with learners' families, enterprises, organizations and individuals in vocational education activities.
6) Accreditation and quality assurance of training in accordance with the law.
7) Scientific research; application and technology transfer.
8) Performing service, production and business activities; training and employment consultancy in accordance with the law.
9) Implement international cooperation; joint venture, association and cooperation with domestic and foreign economic, educational and scientific research organizations in accordance with the law.
10) Comply with the information and reporting regime and be subject to supervision, inspection and examination in accordance with law.
11) Organizing the apparatus, recruiting, managing and employing officials, lecturers and employees; manage and use the University's finances, assets, land, facilities, equipment and other resources in accordance with law.
12) Perform other duties as assigned by the Minister and prescribed by law.

3.4. Achievements
The school has 06 houses awarded the title of Excellent Teacher, 26 teachers won the title of excellent teacher at the national level, 80 excellent teachers at the provincial level, 02 teachers received the Nguyen Van Troi award for vocational training.
Notable achievements in training:
– Won 07 gold medals, 01 silver medal, 01 bronze medal at the ASEAN Skills Competition from 2010-2018;
– 04 excellent vocational certificates at world skills competitions from 2007-2013;
– At the National Skill Competitions, won 09 first prizes, 03 second prizes, 15 third prizes;
– At the ministerial-level skill contest, the province won 77 first prizes, 58 second prizes, and 26 third prizes;
– The first prize of the National Vocational Training Association in 2013;
– Second prize of the National Vocational Training Association in 2015;
The school has been awarded by the State:
